Aurora, formerly a sub-province of Quezon, became the 73rd province of the Philippines on November 21, 1978 by virtue of Batas Pambansa Blg.7. In commemoration of the birth anniversary of the late President Manuel L. Quezon, the new province was inaugurated on August 19, 1979.

The northernmost tip of the province meets the Isabela boundary while its southernmost portion ends near Dingalan Bay. On the northwest is Quirino, on the southwest Bulacan, on the southeast Quezon, and on the west is Nueva Ecija. Aurora province lies in the typhoon belt of the Philippines. Exposed to the Philippine sea on the east, Aurora is frequently visited by typhoons.

The provincial terrain is rugged and the coastline rocky and almost inaccessible. In some places, timberlands rise sharply from bare cliffs. In spite of the mountainous terrain, however, Aurora is self-sufficient in rice and rich in forest resources such as lumber, rattan and almaciga. It’s major export products are logs and copra (coconuts).

With a total land area of 3,240 sq/km, 8 municipalities compose this province of Paradise Philippines. Baler, the provincial capital and birthplace of President Quezon, is approximately 107 kilometers from Cabanatuan City in Nueva Ecija, 6 hours ride from Manila.

Language generally spoken by the people of Aurora province is Tagalog. Aurora’s population as of 2000 Census is 173,797. Main industries are agriculture, rice, copra, fishery and lumber because of it’s rich-soil, vast forest and seas. The Province of Aurora is also well known for furniture production or woodcraft, handmade paper and food processing.

Tourism in Aurora province is highly recommended to both foreign and local tourist who seeks a relaxing vacation, fun, excitement and adventure. Blessed with an abundance of appealing natural attractions such as waterfalls, relaxing greenery on mountainsides, and panoramic tropical beaches. Comfortable hotels and accommodations are widely available offering delicious Filipino foods and the friendliest hospitable service, a distinct trademark of Paradise Philippines.

Aurora, simply a beautiful paradise on earth.

Todays Highlight; Abra Province - a Paradise in the Philippines

Abra province is located between mountain ranges and Ilocos ranges and extremely strong and rigid countryside, it has a number of rivers that start in the mountains and run through Abra province. Abra is rich in natural and historic sites. You shouldn’t miss the historic legacy left by Spaniards in most small municipalities such as old Catholic Churches.

The province boasts rivers cut niches in the Valleys throughout the province. The longest river in the province is Abra river. Also, don’t miss Libtec Underground River in Dolores. Have a grim view looking across the river to watch it disappear in a cave, leaving fields and background. There are many legends and superstitions associated with great photographic opportunities.

With an area of 3,975 sq km or 1.3% of the whole land area of the Philippines, the province of Abra nestles on the western side the Cordillera in Luzon. Its deep valley, wide plains and sloping hills are shut off by rugged mountains, exept on the western portion where the Abra river flows towards to coastal plains of Ilocos Sur. Its provincial boundaries are defined by Ilocos Norte and Kalinga-Apayao on the north. Mountain Province and Ilocos Sur on the south and Kalinga-Apayao on the east.

Abra was created a politico-military province in 1846, prior to which it comprised part of the old Ilocos province and later of Ilocos Sur when Ilocos was divided into two provinces in 1818. Civil government was established in Abra on August 19, 1901, but in February 1905, it was re-annexed to Ilocos Sur. Abra remained a sub-province for twelve years, regaining it’s status as a province only after the passage of Act 2683 in March 1917. Since the 1970 Cencus, the province has had 22 municipalities and 5 municipal districts with Bangued, the provincial capital.

Language or dialect generally spoken in Abra province are Tinggian, Itneg, Apayao, Isinai, Kangkanai, Aklanon, Banuanon, Ilocano, Tagalog and English. Abra’s population as of 2000 Census is 209,490. Abra’s economy is agriculture and livestock based. The Province of Abra is now known as the “Natural Dye Capital of the Philippines” because with its abundant natural dye producing plants.

Indeed, a Paradise Philippines. There are so many exciting unique things to do and see that is incomparable to what the rest of the world can offer. My Dutch friend would always tell me that, “In the Philippines, there are so many surprises!”.

The Philippines is divided into three major island groups, Luzon in the north, the Visayas and Mindanao in the south. Manila is the country’s capital and the heart of the commerce, economic, social and cultural activity. It is the main channel of international trade and commerce.

The country has a vast land area of almost 300,000 SQ KM consisting of 7,107 nature-rich islands, bounty of fascinating mountains rich with gold and ore, of emerald isles ringed with white sanded beaches, of forests alive with wondrous greens, of fertile lands, spectacular sunsets and temperate climates. A world class destination for tropical adventures and exciting getaways.

Philippines are marked by a true mix of cultures. The main background of the Filipino people is Malay, along with some Chinese and Spanish ancestry. The history of American rule and contact with merchants and traders culminated in a unique blend of east and west, both in the appearance and culture of the Filipino people.

Hospitality is most present in every Filipino, a trait of warm welcome. In major cities and towns all over the country, first-class accommodations and facilities, modern shopping centers, an endless selection of Filipino and international cuisines conspire to make the visitor feel perfectly at home.

The country of 80 million loving Filipinos has over a hundred ethnic groups speaking a variety of languages and a mixture of foreign influences which have molded a unique Filipino culture. A splendid tradition of warm hospitality will welcome any visitor to Paradise Philippines where fun, natural beauty, and adventure are never ending.
